Cryptocurrency exchange Grinex has promised to compensate customer losses after a major hack

The Russian cryptocurrency platform Grinex has announced its readiness to compensate losses to users who suffered as a result of the April hack, during which, according to the company, more than 1 billion rubles in digital assets were stolen. The exchange claims that it will gradually restore access to funds and begin payments in favor of customers whose wallets were affected by unauthorized operations.

The incident occurred in mid-April when Grinex detected suspicious activity and reported a "large-scale cyber attack" on its services. Shortly after this, the platform suspended the input and output of funds and announced the theft of assets from a limited number of user wallets. According to the company, the attackers managed to withdraw significant volumes of cryptocurrency, which were then converted and transferred to third-party addresses.

Against the backdrop of negative community reaction and customer concern, Grinex management made a public statement about its intention to fully compensate the lost assets to affected users. As a first step, the exchange promised to unlock the withdrawal of its own ruble stablecoin A7A5 for those customers whose funds were affected during the attack. The company emphasizes that this tool is considered as a basic mechanism for the prompt start of payments and partial restoration of trust in the platform.

At the same time as preparing compensation, Grinex announces work on restoring IT infrastructure and strengthening security systems. The platform claims that it interacts with cybersecurity experts and blockchain analytics to track the movement of stolen funds and accurately reproduce the attack scenario. As a result of these measures, the exchange promises to review internal protection procedures and operation monitoring.

Separately, the company reports that a statement has been filed with law enforcement agencies and a criminal case has been initiated. According to Grinex, the nature of the attack and the tools used indicate a high degree of organization of the attackers.
